Where Interstate 10 and Interstate 8 meet

Casa Grande sits halfway between Phoenix and Tucson, at the point where Interstate 8 splits off from Interstate 10 and heads west to Yuma and San Diego. Every car carrier running between Arizona's two largest cities passes the Casa Grande exits. So does every truck coming from Texas that wants to reach San Diego without driving through Phoenix.

For a city of about 60,000, that is a lot of passing trucks, and it shows in how shipments are scheduled. A Casa Grande pickup on a route along I-10 or I-8 is as easy for a carrier as one in Phoenix. There's no long detour and no reason for the price to carry a rural premium. Our office is on Cottonwood Lane in the central part of the city, a few minutes from the Florence Boulevard interchange.

Maricopa, Coolidge, Florence and Eloy

The Casa Grande office covers most of western Pinal County, and the towns around it are not all alike. Maricopa, 20 miles northwest, is a fast-growing suburb of subdivisions with HOA rules and no interstate of its own; carriers reach it on State Route 347 or the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway. Coolidge and Florence, to the northeast, are older farm and county-seat towns on two-lane highways. Eloy and Arizona City are right beside I-10 to the south.

Outside the town limits, much of the county is farmland and open desert on unpaved roads. A loaded car carrier can't use a dirt road that is washboarded, sandy or crossed by a wash, and it needs a great deal of room to turn around. If your address is like that, the simplest plan is to meet the driver at one of the truck stops at the Sunland Gin Road exit on I-10, or at a paved lot in town. Tell us what the last mile to your property looks like and we'll set a meeting point when we schedule the truck.

Relocating for a manufacturing job

Casa Grande has become a manufacturing town. The Lucid Motors assembly plant on the west side is the best-known employer, and food processing, building products and logistics companies have large operations nearby. New hires come from Michigan, Ohio, California and the Southeast, often ahead of their families.

That creates a common pattern: one person arrives first with one car, and the rest of the household follows a few months later with the others. Each shipment can be booked separately as plans firm up. For the second trip, the person already in Casa Grande can receive the vehicles, so nobody at the other end has to coordinate a delivery they won't be present for. If you're renting while a house is built, give us the rental address now and update it later. A change of address within Casa Grande is easy to make before the truck is dispatched.

Dust on Interstate 10

The stretch of Interstate 10 between Casa Grande and Picacho Peak is known for sudden dust storms, particularly from June through September. Blowing dust can drop visibility to nothing in seconds, and the state closes the highway when it does. Carriers are trained to pull off and wait, which is exactly what you want from someone hauling your car. A dust closure rarely lasts more than an hour or two, but it can push a late-afternoon pickup to the next morning. If a storm passes over a vehicle on an open trailer, it will need a wash on arrival and nothing more.

Is it cheaper to ship from Phoenix or Tucson?

People sometimes ask whether they should drive a car up to Phoenix or down to Tucson to get a better rate. On most routes there's no need. Because both interstates pass through town, carriers treat Casa Grande as part of the same corridor, and a quote for a Casa Grande ZIP code is usually close to one for the south side of Phoenix. The exception is a remote address far from pavement, where meeting the truck in town keeps the price where it should be. Enter your ZIP codes in the quote form and you'll see the real number in about 30 seconds.

Winter guests at the RV and golf resorts

Casa Grande's large RV and golf resorts fill with seasonal residents from October to April. If you're one of them, give us the resort name and your site number along with the street address, because a GPS pin for a resort usually lands at the front gate and not at your door. Resorts set their own hours for commercial vehicles. A carrier that arrives after the gate closes will have to come back the next day, so let the driver know the hours when they call.

Does it cost more to ship from Casa Grande than from Phoenix?

On most routes, no. Carriers pass Casa Grande on I-10 and I-8 anyway, so there's no detour to pay for.

Do you pick up in the city of Maricopa?

Yes. Maricopa is covered from the Casa Grande office. Share any HOA restrictions on commercial trucks, and expect the driver to load on a main road.

My property is on a dirt road. What happens?

The driver will meet you at a paved location, usually a truck stop on I-10 or a large lot in town. We arrange the spot when the truck is scheduled.

Will a dust storm delay my shipment?

It can, by a few hours. Drivers stop when visibility drops and the highway closes, then continue once it reopens.

What areas do you serve?

Casa Grande ZIP codes 85122, 85193 and 85194, plus Maricopa, Coolidge, Florence, Eloy and Arizona City. Nearby offices are in Chandler and Apache Junction.
